The Zanskar river rafting is the most difficult high altitude, highest in the world, and the second most difficult in India. If you’re in Leh, this is a must-do adventurous excursion. The Zanskar River is famed for the famous ‘Chadar Trek’ (frozen river) that takes place during the winter when temperatures drop to minus 30 degrees Celsius. During the summer, the same river is popular for river rafting.

Detailed Itinerary:

Day1: Leh to Lingshed via Singge la 15000ft. Early start from Leh after breakfast, as we have 5 to 6 hrs drive to Lingshed include photo stop and lunch. route passes through Singge La at aprox 15000ft and stop at Lingshed for Overnight satay. Camping.

Day2: lingshed to Remala.
Which will be another 7 hrs drive. Remala is the starting point of our expedition which elevation is 3600 metre from the sea level. Reach camp in the evening , settled at the followed by evening bonefire and dinner, over night stay at Camp.

Day 3: Good morning tea with beautiful sunrise and breakfast at the riverside, post breakfast, we start getting ready for our Rafting safety demonstration. Raft down till Karsha which will take 3 hrs. We will be negotiate few class 2 and 3 rapids. Afternoon relax at the campsite.

Day 4: Karsha to Zangla
morning Breakfast. And then drive to Karsha village, walk for 20 mins to the monastery were we will see the monks doing their morning prayer. Back to camp , get ready for rafting. beautiful valley laced with multicoloured mountains all around. Reach Zangla around afternoon for lunch and overnight camping. Visit the small village of Zangla with lots of monasteries and culture.

Day6: Zangla to Nyerak Early start of the trip and then we enter the grand canyon of zanskar. Expect some grade 4 rafting filled with lots of rapids and lots of adventure. Enjoy the breathtaking view of the gorge before we have lunch on the river. 5 hours of rafting before we reach Nyerak village for overnight stay. Most famous camping site in the entire gorge. Rest in the camp or visit the small village.

Day7: Nyerak to Chilling Another adrenaline pumping day on grade 4 section. Expect a lot of grade 3 and 4 rapids and continuous whitewater. The river gets narrower until it enters a steep 18ft wide gap called the Gate rapid. Lunch at one of the most beautiful waterfall on the route and then the valley passes through spectacularly colored mountain formations all around. Overnight camp in Chilling.

Day8: Chilling to Nemo, Drive back to Leh. Last day on the river. Another classic whitewater day with continuous grade 3 and 4 long rapids. Enjoy the beauty of the zanskar river until we reach the confluence with the Indus river. Drive to Leh dinner at a hotel with all the expedion team. Overnight stay at Hotel in
